Panthers 13 Mahoney’s Leafs 4

Just another Tuesday night slaughtering by the Panthers vs the
Mahoneys Lawn and Garden Center. The Panthers extend their record to
5-0 for their best start in franchise history with a 13-4 drubbing of
Mahoneys and increase their goals for to 45.

I am pretty sure everyone including the 3 fans in the stands scored
off of Mahoney’s poor goalie. Well everyone except BNags.

Highlights include two Hat Tricks by Nagle, Phil (Player of the Game)
and Richards-Davidson, Brad. Nagle,Jay added 2 goals to extend his
team leading goal total to 7 on the year. Bon (0 G, 2A) and Duran (1G,
2A) now tied for the team lead in points at 13.

Newie (2.20 GAA) put up another solid effort save for a last minute
snipe that even the Panther bench loved.

The Panthers now look ahead to a Week 6 matchup vs the 2-1-1 Boston
Sword and Tuna squad.

Panthers 11 Bill’s Auto 4

It’s been called Grit Week by some people in America this week. Nothing grittier than having to play a Mechanic Shop either.  But Bill’s Auto will be headed back to the garage and need a full tune up after the Panthers pumped 11 goals of diesel into their net last night. The night started out with Matt Baldino scoring on a close range snipe top shelf to set the tone. This reporter lost track of the order of the goals last night but the long list looked something like this on the scoresheet.  Baldino, Baldino, Duran, Peterson, Bon, Baldino, Duran, Fast Drew, Jay Bird, Peterson and Bon to close it out.

What this reporter does remember:

– A nice 3 on 1 w/ Peterson, Bon and Duran that Peterson looked at neither line mate, crossed the middle of the ice and shot directly into a defenders shin pads.

– Jay’s snipe from 1 knee

– A beautiful tic tac toe play from Duran/Peterson for a Peterson goal that Perry said “Was the greatest play I’ve been part of in my hockey career”

– Bnags with two beautiful rushes when the game was in hand to try and grab himself a goal. It will come.

– Walshie stoning Bon on an unreal stick save.

– Newie with an equally beautiful two pad stack save that Former Panther goalie Joey Waters would have shed a tear on.

– Tater playing with one normal leg and one leg that looked like it came from Game of Thrones.

– Stevie Nagle almost headed back to the DL, while jumping out of the way of a Brad Richards slapper.

– Drew V nothing of note, but hey enjoy Louie CK tonight.

– Coach Mike was a scratch as he went to the Red Sox and now has missed 2 of 4 games.

Panthers 7 Busch League 0

The Summer Panther Hockey Club continued its early season success last night by posting a 7-0 win over Busch League. Panthers were led by Silent Jay Nagle’s hat trick and Perry Petersons 2 goals. Newhall with all the saves, posted what people are saying is the first shutout in franchise history!

Things got off to a quick start for the Panthers as Peterson struck 20 seconds into the game. Peterson fired home a rebound shot off a Bon rebound. Peterson has been putting home all of Bon’s misses and the winged pair has been on fire since being put together. Peterson got his second of the game later that period on a set up from Duran & Bon. Bon fires a cross ice pass to Duran who carried into the zone and fed Perry for another goal.

The Panthers also welcomed back Stevie Nagle to the lineup and he pitted his first if the season as the first period expired to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead after one.

No goals in the second for the Panthers and that’s where Newhall kept Busch League at bay. Stopping a couple 2 on 1’s in the process he was able to keep his shutout in tact.

The 3rd period is where the Silent Assassin showed up. Silent Jay picking corners left and right. Jay could have had about 6 snipes last night but he’ll take the 3 and is now second on the team in goals (I think).

Duran finished off the scoring in the 3rd on a nice dish from Bon. 2 on 1 down the ice slid a nice pass over to Patty to bury it and deflate what was left of the 1-0-1 Busch League Bushes.

B Nags took the lone penalty of the night with a tripping call in the 3rd period.

Panthers back at it again next week at 10:00pm vs Tony’s Garage and Auto Parts

Panthers 8 Team Carter 2

The Summer Panther Hockey Club moved to 2-0 last night with their 8-2 win over Team Carter. The newfound Panthers have seemed to have found some early season success scoring goals (14) and keeping them out of the net (3). The off season moves have Coach Mike Nagle walking with a cool smooth GM swagger.

Carter was wheeling around the ice last night like the Harlem Globetrotters Ice team. Lots of smooth passing but not being able to get shots. More east/west than north/south with their opportunities with the puck.

Panthers were led on the scoresheet by Chris Peterson 2 goals. Perry picked up two sticks from The Bon off line hockey shop prior to the game and it paid dividends! Perry was Perry on the spot by scoring two goals off Bon rebounds. Right place, right time. Perry and Bon also found success skating with “New” Drew. Bowden played one of the two center spots last night and with his gritty playmaking was able to tally in the 3rd period playing with the aforementioned wingers.

Old Drew kept his scoring going by scoring a goal from center ice with 4 seconds to play. Coaches always yelling for players to put a puck on net at the end of a period and it paid off with the goalie fumbling it and then watching it trickle in.  His wing mate Jay Bird also scored when he went top dog and made the water bottle dance. Bon and Mike Baldino were impressed with the dance the bottle made when it popped and even questioned that it was a towel and not a water bottle. Baldino also was able to find the twin and also led the Panthers on a dominate power play in the 3rd period where they cycled and passed the puck for 90 seconds without shooting. Quite the feat.

Patty “Bobo” Duran also sniped and added an apple in the win, playing the other center with New Drew and being effective at both ends of the ice.  New comer Tater King scored his second goal in as many games as he shot from the point in the second period was tipped in by a Carter defenseman. BRad, BNags and Philly were their usual Orr-like dmen on the blue line keeping Carters high flyers at bay most of the night.

Newy-Newhall was again top flight in net last night and is now second in all time wins in Panther history. You’ll remember team leader Joe Waters was traded to Arizona just two weeks prior to the season to make room for Newhall.  Quotes from the parking lot, “best $15 I’ve ever spent”
